ISTE+ASCD Communities of Practice Application

August 23
Due 11:59 PM PT

In-Person and Online

Leading a school or district can be isolating work. The CoP puts you in a room with leaders who carry the same weight you do. Over eight months, you take on a problem of practice you own, working it alongside a cohort of leaders doing the same, with expert facilitators who know your project and stay with you the whole way. AI runs through the work, whether it is part of the problem you bring or part of the solution you build.

You will leave having made a real impact in your building or district, and some of that work goes on to become the case studies and resources we share with educators everywhere through generationai.org. You will also join a network where leaders from our first two cohorts still trade advice and check in on each other's work. The problem is what brings you in. The community is what you keep.

What it looks like:

- A two-day in-person convening to kick off the work, October 19-20, 2026 in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. Participants should plan to arrive in the late afternoon of October 18.
- Monthly 60-minute virtual sessions across the eight months, with a facilitator and the entire community.
-Optional monthly office hours for one-on-one time with the facilitator to go deeper into your project.
- Cohort 3 is for PK-12 building and district leaders.

This cohort is selective. We expect to welcome about 60 leaders, and we read every application closely. Applications are due Sunday Aug 23, 2026, 11:59 PM PT; we will notify applicants in early September.

Costs associated with the in-person convening will be covered by ISTE. Participants who successfully fulfill the requirements of the program will be provided with a $1000 stipend, paid in 2 installments over the 8 months.

The Community of Practice is part of GenerationAI, the flagship AI initiative of the International Society for Transforming Education (ISTE). Funded by Google.org and General Motors, GenerationAI gives PK-12 educators the knowledge, tools, and confidence to capture the power of AI in the classroom safely and responsibly.
