Adopting the ISTE Standards

ISTE provides robust support to help educators adopt and successfully leverage the ISTE Standards to advance teaching and learning with technology.

A young child wearing headphones uses a laptop at a classroom desk, with other students and colorful school supplies in the background. The laptop screen shows a connection error message.

The ISTE Standards are a framework that guides educators, leaders and coaches in using technology to create high-impact, sustainable, scalable and equitable learning experiences. They clearly identify the competencies needed for learning, teaching and leading with digital pedagogy.

Adopted in all 50 U.S. states and many countries worldwide, they are available in nine languages.

Here’s how ISTE helps educators successfully leverage the standards:

By providing the ISTE Essential Conditions for Effective Tech Use in Schools.

These are the elements deemed essential for leveraging technology to support learning. Research-backed and focused on systemwide change, the Essential Conditions are a road map that guide standards implementation.
