Capella University earns ISTE Seal of Alignment for Professional Development Courses for Digital Age Classrooms
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Feb. 15, 2017 - The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) today announced that Capella University earned the Seal of Alignment for Readiness to the ISTE Standards for Teachers. An ISTE panel of reviewers concluded that Capella University's Professional Development Courses for Digital Age Classrooms, designed to enable teachers to effectively integrate technology into their instructional practices, help build the strong foundational skills needed to support the ISTE Standards for Teachers.
The ISTE review panel said, "The Capella courses are clean, consistent and easy to navigate. The competency-based courses are structured to provide maximum flexibility, offering participants multiple paths through the learning and assessment experiences and significant opportunities for personalization and customization."
Capella University's professional development courses are a set of 22 online competency-based courses designed to enable teachers to effectively integrate technology into their instructional practices. The courses, which are free and self-paced, teach the skills, knowledge and application of strategies teachers need to keep them and their classrooms on top of the latest advances in educational technology.
Appropriate for preservice or inservice K-12 educators and technology coaches, each course offers continuing education clock hours and a process to earn graduate credit. Course titles range from Digital Citizenship, Enhancing Instruction with Technology and Classroom Device Management to Collaborative Learning Environments, Understanding Competency-Based Instruction and Instructional Coaching.
Products and resources submitted to the ISTE Seal of Alignment program undergo a rigorous review by a panel of subject-matter experts who have a deep understanding of the ISTE Standards. Resources and solutions seeking the ISTE Seal of Alignment are evaluated based on their pedagogical value and the extent to which they build the skills embodied in the standards. The Seal of Alignment for Readiness recognizes resources that focus on learning to use technology and that help build the foundational technology skills needed to support the ISTE Standards.
