There’s nothing quite like the enthusiasm that spills out from students when they are engaging with people from all over the globe. Just ask Julie Lindsay, author of The Global Educator: Leveraging Technology for Collaborative Learning & Teaching.

Lindsay, who is founder and CEO of Flat Connections, designs and manages online projects for K-12 classrooms and customizes learning experiences for educators. She’s seen firsthand the exhilaration of cross-cultural connection. In the video below, she discusses what makes her so passionate about connecting global classrooms.

“When you see things happening and you feel that empowerment and you see the engagement and excitement of students, you get addicted to global collaboration — I’m addicted to global collaboration, and I’m addicted to helping other people do it because I want them to feel the same thing and to see the same thing and to support the world understanding that comes from it.”

Today is Global Collaboration Day. If you’d like to start a global collaboration project, head over to the Global Collaboration Day site, where you can find resources, tips and like-minded educators who are thrilled to talk about their projects.
