After engagement with thousands of education stakeholders over the past year, the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students were released at ISTE 2016 in Denver.

The unveiling took place at an interactive session that provided an overview of the refresh process, described the content of the new standards and key shifts from the 2007 standards, and identified the tools and resources ISTE has developed to support implementation and adoption of the refreshed standards.

"We're providing myriad tools to support teachers and leaders in understanding the 2016 standards and moving forward with implementation and adoption," explained Carolyn Sykora, senior director of ISTE Standards. "The supports released at ISTE 2016 are just the beginning."

It all starts with the standards adoption toolkit designed to help educators confidently weave the standards into their classrooms.
The multi-resource toolkit includes:

• A PDF of the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students.
• A license agreement that spells out how you can use the standards.
• A bundle of creative assets for use on social media including digital presentations, blog posts, etc.
• A policy report.
• An ebook.
• Materials designed to demystify computational thinking (CT), a core component of the new standards.

Here's a breakdown of what you'll find in the toolkit, along with other resources to aid adoption and implementation.

License agreement
This agreement outlines the permitted education uses of the standards. There are also agreements that cover reprinting of the standards and licenses for using the standards in learning management systems, curriculum mappers, websites and other digital platforms.

Policy report
Walk through the creation of the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students with this research and validity report titled, "Redefining learning in a technology-driven world." The report details the research, feedback and composition phases of the refresh and is a must-read for understanding the rigor of the process and the validity of the standards.  

Poster
Introduce the standards to students with this downloadable classroom poster available in two sizes or in a digital format.

Ebook
The 2016 ISTE Standards for Students ebook provides insight into the refreshed standards and practical examples of what successful integration looks like at various grade levels.

Computational thinking (CT) is a core component of the 2016 student standards. These materials will demystify CT and support teachers in building learning around this topic.

The new ISTE Standards PLN is an open learning network devoted to learning about the new standards and providing resources for standards implementation.
